Kitchen Fire with Extension

-
On Thursday, February 28th, 2013 at approx. 8:15pm E58, E60, E62, TL2 & R40 were toned out for a kitchen fire at 450 Glen Avenue. Car 2392 arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing from the first floor  "B" side of the structure and called for a 10-75 assignment, which brought E63, L31 & U65 to the scene (with E61 & E64 standing-by in quarters). Car 2391 arrived moments later and assumed IC, and 2392 went inside as forward command. E60 hit a hydrant at Hawley/Glen Ave., and E62 took a hydrant on Shelley Ave. The fire was visible from a few blocks away and auto-exposed into the second floor of the structure. Multiple lines were stretched and members made an aggressive interior attack. The fire was brought under control within 40 mins, though units remained on scene for a few more hours overhauling & packing up equipment. All searches were negative & no injuries were reported. See the attached link for an article/photos from the Port Chester patch.

Rye Brook Chimney Fire with extension
Monday, January 21, 2013 18:25
-
Above date & Time Rye Brook L-30 along with,59,61,64,TL-2 & R-40 were dispatched to Lincoln / West Chester ave,for a reported structure fire. While Enroute, units were updated via 60 Control to reported address as 18 Lincoln ave, calle reporting flames from the roof.Upon arrival,2392 (Chief Quinn) upgraded the assignment bringing 62 and U-65 to the scene.Units found a 2 story large Cape style with flames from the chimney and extension, into the attic.

L-30 entered the narrow driveway and ladderd to the Chimney area,61 followed and dropped a supply line to the closest hydrant, which 64 picked up and supplied 61.TL-2 laddered the structure and assisted with opening up the roof area.R-40 provided salvage and 62 assisted with additional manpower.

The Fire had a good head start and had burn thru sections of the roof area.Members made an aggressive attack into the attic area and stopped the fire to the roof area.

2391 (Chief Mc Minn) placed the fire under control within an hour of dispatch with unitsstaying on scene to check for extension.

Due to the large distance between hydrants members assisted each other in repacking the rigs prior to the drop in temperature.Ramianing PCFD stood-By in quarters.

Once again,a prime example of two Departments working together to get the job done.
